Lino cut on fineart paper A/P

Title " The futility of knowing the spinning earth is hurtling  through space in a galaxy that is spinning and also moving and we are made up of mainly water - this makes me scream a primal scream. " Lino cuts are well associated with secondary school in my mind , something childish and not for adults. I have had some lino the soft type for cutting and linoleum cutter set and inks stored away  guess I was going to use it sometime or that was what I was thinking  when I purchased.  So the first one I made was awful this is my second attempt , now must I list the interesting things about lino cuts , I guess they are a lot more tactile and slow the lino is physical and demands a certain type of line.  One must plan a cut or design and really stick to it .   Ok so this image is pretty primitive I felt primitive making it believe me. There is an obvious influence and I have given it a kind of a long title, the mark making reminded me of rock art at th...

资本主义 Titled "Capitalism"

Another lock down painting. This is titled capitalism, the photograph doesn't show the surface quality of the paint properly, paintings have an aesthetic that is unique to the medium. These are acrylics pretty fun and rewarding to paint with, oils  I found rather slow and sleeping in the same room as I paint the fumes became unbearable I gave up painting in them years ago soon after I stopped working as a professional screenprinter.  I am a collector and a procrastinator, having art supplies for years and not using them always an excuse not to use them; this lockdown has made me enter back into the conversation, that is art. I guess I have always been a part of it but with out contributing paintings I feel irrelevant. So skulls and darkness were my last paintings 6 years ago, they had a horrific realism, these new paintings are almost pop art, but I have been trying to imbue meaning to covey and communicate something above the mere beauty of the subject and paint. The aest...

Doodle the artist unconscious

Doodle the artist unconscious ,                                                       Drawing takes time and practise not every time a person puts pen to paper it is to create a masterpiece or even a finished piece.  Doodling can be for fun , in school a distraction , while on the phone unconsciously due to the elements of pen and note pad being close at hand.                                                        Do people ever doodle intentionally , well if one does not know what to draw I guess if you start drawing it is a doodle.  Drawing is a skill when not drawing for a extended period one can get rust or sloppy. I guess Doodling is a great way to practise - art without reason does not have to be ...

Drawing of Rose by Paul Woods music by Bach

The essence of artistic success

Music, brings this point to my mind. It has been said of music that it is the most dangerous of all the art forms as it can insight to riot or bring a man to tears. Music seems to touch everybody in the masses in a similar fashion. It's musical accessibility that started me thinking and  a rock and roll band and their flawed performance and ingenious talented creativity and appeal that started me pondering. So this blog applies to all the arts painting, music , film and even dance. What makes us great , why are some at the top of the game, revered, isolated and singled out as gods of awesome . We live in a sick culture of celebrity but this is not a new cultural phenomen , it has only been heightened by modern media ever since the invention of books, then photographs and radio and television. We now stand on yet another cultural precipice of social networking one can now go viral in a day or a week - where five hundred years ago it could take a life...

Digital Artwork 2010 - Liquid Dreams

This is an Art blog as much as a photography gallery. The above piece was created for a book named Liquid Dreams by an America author that I have had the pleasure of working with in the past. This project is on hold at the moment as far as I know. The other project is Un Dia Sin Ti a Spanish poetry book you can check out the artwork on a flash enabled device on http://perrylane.org   The next piece is named Mystery of the pyramids and was painted in oils around 2005 for a good friend as a house warming present.   The last is a painting I did for a girlfriend now an ex - girlfriend, actually it was starting to look good only needing a glaze or two more of white for highlights - originally the image came from one of my photographs - pity I never put the finishing touches to it but a painting is never finished just abandoned.  My paining and drawing is mainly on request and usually I make them as presents not for money. Photography is becoming ...
